Welcome Home: A Salute to Veterans!!!!    Come join Choral Dynamics of Galesburg as they present a very special show honoring the men and women of the armed forces.  It should be a spectacular and a wonderful tribute to our veterans and all armed forces members past and present.  It's a "Welcome Home" party filled with patriotic music and songs that celebrate the meaning of "Home."  Some of the songs are; Yankee Doodle, It's A Grand Ol' Flag, Don't Sit Under The Apple Tree, Stars & Stripes Forever, You Raise Me Up and much more.   All proceeds will benefit The Orpheum Theatre.

Summer Concert in Maquon - 6:00 - 8:00 PM

Summer Concert in the Maquon Village Park!!   Come for an evening of food and fun!! Joyful Noyz & The Percussion Group from the Galesburg Calvary Assembly of God will perform for a pleasant blend of contemporary and Southern gospel music.  Come early & eat, beginning at 5:00 PM, the Maquon Masonic Lodge will be selling pork chop sandwiches and hot dogs, the Parish Youth will be selling chips, popcorn and drinks, the Maquon Historical Society will be serving ice cream, pie & brownies.  Everyone is welcome --- bring your blankets and lawn chairs.  In case of rain this event will be held in the Maquon Fellowship Hall.

VIP Tours of Rail Yard - 3:45 PM

V.I.P. RAIL YARD TOURS!!!!  For the first time the Railroad Museum will offer VIP tours of the Rail yard, there will only be 32 tickets sold and these will be on a first-come first-served basis, no pre-sales.  The tour will consist of a 30 minute guided tour of the Galesburg Railroad Hump Tower, then proceed for an overview of the railroad yard on County Highway 10 bridge, after a few minutes it will head to the Galesburg Diesel Shop facilities for a 30 minute narrated walking tour inside the building, then will finish the tour with the rest of the Yard.  Total time of the tour is approximately one hour and 30 minutes to 2 hours.  Be back to the Museum approximately 6:00 PM.

Train & Toy Show - Saturday, 9:00 am - 5:00 PM, Sunday, 10:00 am - 4:00 PM

Railroad Days Train & Toy Show!!!  Carl Sandburg College Foundation will host the 16th annual train and toy show.  There are 70 vendors from 14 states slated to attend this event with over 270 merchandise tables & several model layouts for people to view.  Visitors to the toy show will get a chance to see model cars, NASCAR memorabilia and other toys while walking through the event.  A new exhibitor at this year's show, Rails of Fun, will offer miniature train rides for children in the circle drive for a nominal cost.

Galesburg Woman's Club - Historical Homes Tour!!!  In conjunction with Galesburg Railroad Days the Galesburg Woman's Club presents their Historical Home Tour, the tour begins and ends at the Galesburg Woman's Club House.  Strawberry shortcake and beverages will be served at the end of your tour.  Homes on the tour will be: The Bert Mackey Home - built in 1889, The Kathy Kopsack Home - built in the 1890's, The John Schlaf House (Kelsey House) - completed in 1902, The Galesburg Woman's Club House - built in 1876.  Come tour these lovely historic homes and enjoy shortcake afterwards.

"Forgotten Tales Along the Rails"!!!  Margaret Spiegel will present this lecture as part of the 2010 Carl Sandburg Historic Site Lecture Series.  The Irish Immigrant Experience in Galesburg, 1850 - 1970 will explain unique demographic trends of Irish immigration, featuring the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy's Railroad's recruitment of unskilled laborers, the role of women and religion.  Ms. Spiegel is a recent graduate of Knox College and the topic was part of her Honor's in History studies.  The presentation is FREE and open to the public.

Midsommar Music Festival - 11:00 am - 4:00 PM

Bishop Hill's Midsommar Music Festival!!!  This festival has a strong line-up of musical performers including; Ernie Sandquist, Chris Vallillo, Mark Dvorak, Morningstar, Black Hawk Pipes & Drums, The Templeton Family, Pickin' Pals, the Heritage Folk Dancers of Bishop Hill and Hammer & Pick.  Highlights of this FREE all-day event include Main Stage performances, Music Workshops, Open jamming, a Swedish Maypole celebration and Old-Fashioned Barn Dance at the Colony School in the evening.  Several musicians will offer music workshops in which visitors can hone their musical skills, learn new tunes and ideas, or just listen and enjoy.  Bring your instruments for some excellent free musical jamming sessions, located throughout Bishop Hill.  Visitors can pick up a program for more details at the information booth in the park.
