Lincoln Mobile Exhibit - Thurs. - Sat. 10:00 am - 8:00 pm, Sun. noon - 5:00 pm
The "Abraham Lincoln: Self-Made in America" Bicentennial Tour, a mobile museum exhibit developed by the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library & Museum in Springfield will stop at Galesburg's Sandburg Mall October 2 - 5. People are encouraged to visit FREE of charge. The exhibition examines Lincoln's life from his poor beginnings to his ascension to the presidency & his assassination. Highlights include a visual recreation of Lincoln's 1861 Farewell Address from a train car in Springfield as he left for the White House & the award-winning "The Civil War in Four Minutes" video presentation. The mobile museum uses an engaging mixture of interactive elements, graphics, facsimile documents & artifacts inside a 53-foot long, double expandable trailer to commemorate the Lincoln Bicentennial.

Lincoln On The Prairie - 6:30 PM
Join the celebration of the 150th Anniversary of the Lincoln/Douglas Debates in historic Galesburg with a Lincoln Ball & Dinner at the Best Western Prairie Inn. An authentic buffet will be served & we encourage you to dress in the attire of 1858. After the dinner Abraham Lincoln & Stephen Douglas will reminisce about the hard-fought campaign and then be available for pictures while mingling amongst the guests. A band will be performing for dancing & a cash bar will be available. A Lincoln/Douglas discussion will take place at 7:50 to 8:15. Dinner starts at 7:00 pm.

Galesburg Scarecrow Festival - 9:00 am - 5:00 PM
Home made scarecrows voted on by the festival goers. Special Lincoln/Douglas catagory to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the Lincoln/Douglas debates. Abe & Mary Lincoln will join us on Saturday from 9 - 10 am, come meet them and talk to them. Enjoy live entertainment, crafts, children's activities, food & much more. Standish Park is directly across the street from the location of the famous Lincoln/Douglas debate site.

The Reunion Tour 08' - 2:00 PM
Abraham Lincoln & Stephen Douglas will meet at the original sight of "Old Main" on the Knox College Campus. Imagine that the two men have been reunited - not to reenact their debates but to revisit them. They will return to the location where thousands gathered to hear them debate in 1858 - Galesburg, the 6th debate in a series of seven debates that took place across Illinois. Abe & Douglas will reminisce about the hard-fought campaign that won one a Senate seat & set the other on the road to the presidency.

Lincoln/Douglas Reunion Tour - 1:00 - 4:00 PM
Throughout the day, students at Knox College will be providing tours of the original site of the Galesburg debate, "Old Main", and the "Old Jail House" a part of the underground Railroad.

Knox County Scenic Drive - 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
This self-guided driving tour is held annually in celebration of the rural heritage of the area. Towns, villages & points of historical interest participate as official stops. All feature an assortment of food, crafts, antiques, flea markets, artisans & demonstrations. Abe & Mary will be visiting the stops along the Scenic Drive. The common thread of hospitality binds the drive together and the self-guided driving tour lets you set your own pace and enjoy the spectacular foliage between stops.

Knox-Galesburg Symphony - 7:30 PM
The Abraham Lincoln Commemoration Committee & the Knox-Galesburg Symphony joins forces to recognize & celebrate Lincoln's Knox College-Galesburg ties, featuring music aligned with the American Civil War & Lincoln. Program to include Copland's "Lincoln Portrait", Bilik's "American Civil War Fantasy", Tobani's "Gems of Stephen Foster" & Gould's "American Salute". Guest soloist Felix Parra, one of Mexico's leading violinists will perform Wieniawsky's Second Violin Concerto.
